Cost to carpet

   Over the years carpet installation cost has consistently and slowly gone up. 

       When i started doing floorcovering,  around the turn of the century,  basic carpet installation was $4.00 to $4.50 a square yard. 
   By the time I finished doing floorcovering, around 2012 basic carpet installation was $5 to $5.50 a square yard.
    
  By basic carpet installation i mean walking into a cleaned out room and putting down tack strip, laying the pad, and installing the carpet.
